greentech and Erck Rickmers join forces in PV

The aim of the venture is to create a new group under the existing greentech brand that manages and develops photovoltaic (PV) power plants. “Photovoltaics is indispensable for supplying the world with climate friendly and clean energy. It is the technology of the future. That is why we bring together greentech’s technical expertise and its market access with our group’s capital strength and project development skills,” Erck Rickmers explains. He is investing in the new business through his family firm. “Steps crucial to the success of photovoltaic power plants are taken at the project development stage. We are therefore delighted that in future we will be developing this area together with our new partner,” says Ingo Rehmann, Managing Director and founder of greentech.

Product and service portfolio to be continued

With a portfolio comprising more than 200 systems, greentech is one of the largest independent providers of PV power plant operation and maintenance services in Europe. In the area of commercial and technical consulting on the engineering and operation of PV installations the company has a track record totalling more than one gigawatt. greentech was founded in Hamburg by Ingo Rehmann in 2008 and is active in 11 countries.

Approximately 50 experienced experts within the company offer a full-service concept for PV systems of all sizes. Their customers include insurance companies, investment funds, public utility companies and regional and international energy utilities. The current product and service portfolio will be continued and expanded by the existing shareholders Aleksis Schäfer and Jörn Carstensen. “We are delighted to have a financially strong partner by our side with whom we can systematically develop new service segments and markets,” explains Jörn Carstensen. “This is something which our customers will also benefit from.’

Planned development of PV plants in Europe

The new group will develop and operate PV parks in Europe. Ingo Rehmann is moving to greentech projects GmbH, newly founded for this purpose, and he shares responsibility for expanding the new project development business with the rest of the company’s management.

“While solar energy is becoming increasingly competitive, we still see a great deal of potential for it in Europe. By moving into the area of project development, we are tapping this interesting and environmentally sustainable growth market,” explains Rickmers, whose group of companies includes the investment and asset management company Nordcapital. Together with investors, Nordcapital has financed various solar parks with an output of 80 megawatts, including a 51-megawatt solar park in Straßkirchen, Bavaria. Nordcapital’s Chief Executive Officer Felix von Buchwaldt will serve as new Chief Financial Officer of greentech’s new project development segment. (mfo)
