Schletter supplies 200 MW solar park in Vietnam

The plant in the South Vietnamese province of Ninh Tuan generates over 200 MW of solar power and is scheduled for completion by 2020.

Own distribution company just founded in June

"This important acquisition success shows that our growth course in Asia is bearing fruit," said Florian Roos, Head of the Schletter Group for Asia and the Pacific Region (APAC). The Schletter Group founded its own distribution company in Vietnam in June. "The Vietnamese solar market offers great long-term growth potential," Roos added.

Local and regional presence crucial

"Our local presence and proximity to our production site in Shanghai put us in a good position to leverage this potential.” The Schletter Group is one of the largest foreign suppliers of PV mounting systems in Asia. The company employs over 450 people at its production site in Shanghai and has its own branches in a number of key countries in the region.

The solar power plant, which is financed by VNT Investment Group, is to be built in the southern province of Ninh Thua, northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. It is the first project of the Schletter Group in Vietnam and at the same time the largest in the country.

Flexible design and special coating for corrosion resistancy

The coastal location in hilly and steep terrain places high demands on the mounting system. In particular, it must have a flexible design and be particularly corrosion-resistant. For these reasons, the tried and tested Schletter FS AS Duo two-pillar system will be used. It has solid pile driven foundations made of hot-dip galvanised steel.

A coating with a newly developed aluminium- magnesium-zinc alloy (SMAC coating) will provide additional corrosion protection. This will guarantee the substructure has high levels of stability and durability. A high degree of prefabrication will also guarantee simple and quick installation and thus a high degree of economic efficiency of the facility. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2018.

Attractive investment opportunities in Vietnam

The Vietnamese solar market is still in its early stages and therefore offers very good development opportunities: Feed-in tariffs and terms of up to 20 years make this market particularly interesting for investors. For the Schletter Group, the solar park is not only a successful entry into the new market, but the major project will also makes the company the market leader in Vietnam. (HCN)
