California makes solar mandatory

As reported on the architecture database Solar Age, California’s new building energy standard came into force at the turn of this year. The key difference compared to the previous building energy standard is the obligation to include a solar system on the roof or façade in every new residential and commercial building. This solar obligation will come into effect from 2020 and will have an impact on the architectural design of buildings, as the requirement for a solar façade will specifically apply to high-rise buildings.
