Solar-Log expanding its product range

Solar-Log is now monitoring 273,098 solar PV plants across 110 countries with a combined output reaching 12 GW. In 2017, international research firms GTM Research and Navigant Research confirmed Solar-Log's position as a market leader for inverter-independent monitoring systems for residential and commercial solar PV plants. These numbers are particularly remarkable considering that the competition in the pv monitoring sector is very strong.

The 2018 forecast for the global expansion of solar is 108 GW. China alone will account for half of this growth according to the IHS Markit institute. Solar-Log  plans on continuing growth globally, including in the key markets in India, China, and the U.S.

New Solar-Log 50 Gateway for residential installations

Solare Datensysteme GmbH (SDS) introduced the new Solar-Log 50 Gateway at the end of the year. This residential solution is DIN rail mountable and developed for the price-sensitive small PV plant market segment. The Gateway can be upgraded with an extensive range of licenses. This new product segment will grow in 2018. It is planned to add additional models for various plant sizes and to upgrade the Solar-Log WEB Enerest online portal. “In doing so, SDS will increase its market position by offering products that can fulfill the diverse global requirements for PV monitoring and management”, the company announced.

A look at what lies ahead

Regarding the outlook for 2018 and beyond, Frank Schlichting, CEO of Solare Datensysteme GmbH says, "I firmly believe we have to operate on an even greater international basis and to become active in countries and markets that are currently not in focus. Of course, that will only be possible if we position ourselves broadly and are actively involved in the merging of different areas. Building automation and energy management are just two key words that come to play here. We not only have to become more globally active, but also have to provide a wider range of services and to bring our know-how to markets that are at the initial stage of the transition to clean energy."

Compatible with more than 1,700 inverter models

Since August 2015, German SDS is a subsidiary of BKW AG (Bern, Switzerland), a global company for energy and infrastructure with around 6,000 employees. Solar-Log is compatible with over 1,700 inverter models from 100 different manufacturers and with more than 100 component manufacturers.  (HCN)
