Charge your electric car at 940 volts from bi-facial solar cells

At this high voltage charger, up to four electric cars can be charged at the same time, in addition to two e-bikes or electric scooters. Outwardly, this charging station looks just like any conventional filling station. But instead of diesel or petrol, it is green electricity that comes out of the taps.

Solarcarport with efficient bi-facial solar cells

The roof consists of bi-facial solar cells that take in more sunlight. The car port itself was developed by Clickcon from Freiburg, and it generates between 11,000 and 12,000 kilowatt hours of solar power. Honda and Clickcon are currently also working on putting another solar car port on the nearby car park which would allow them to harvest significantly more solar power.

Energy management control with peak shaving

Another cooperation partner is the Swiss company Evtec, that produce the actual charge points. The connectors are compatible with all charging systems and EVs. The system provides 150 kilowatts DC, the charging voltage is 170 to 940 volts. Two vehicles can also be charged at 22 kilowatts (AC) or 43 kilowatts (AC), two more at between 60 and 90 kilowatts (DC). The distribution of currents is controlled by an integrated energy management system which is also capable of peak shaving.

Honda’s third cooperation partner is New Motion. They take care of the remote servicing of the chargers and the payment by charge card. The company already has over 100,000 customers. A display at the charger shows the price determined by Honda and their charge card unlocks the charger. All payments are handled via the customer’s account. (HS/HCN)
